This is an interesting "networking standard". Apparently when some computers are off they are not completely off and their NIC is listening for a "magic packet" (6 bytes of "FF" followed by the targets MAC 16 times). I thought it would be cool to make a script that uses this standard. And that's where the demon comes in :). I setup a service on my server to periodically ping my iphone and see if i'm connected to the home network. If my PC is off and I rejoin the network after being gone for 10 minutes, it turns it on with the magic packet.
